I have a brand new installation of Exchange 2003 fully patched on a brand
new Windows 2003 server fully patched. I am getting the following errors
repeatedly:

Event Type:	Error

SMTP218.DLL, version 6.0.5.218, fault address 0x000136ea.

I tried installing the KB 885881 but was told my patch level already
incorporated this. Any ideas?

Hmm I don't even see a SMTP218.DLL on my box?

Hmm I don't even see a SMTP218.DLL on my box? What third party Email
related apps do you have installed? You may have to re-service pack
and reapply all updates again.

Typically AV, usually Symantec causes these errors.

First thing would be to locate the smtp218.dll file on the server, then see
if the folder name gives a clue to who created it. If not, right-click it,
and look for the author within the file properties. I'm pretty sure that
this is some kind of addin.

I would bet this is Symantec Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange
version 6.0.5.218 (the version of SMTP218.DLL is 6.0.5.218).
Try the IIS diagnostic Toolkit:

didocus,

I do have the Symantec Mail Security running. What will the IIS diagnostic
tool do for me? Will it give me a workaround?
Maitakeboy,I have the exact same issue as yours.
