Exchange Server - server prompting for nt login

I setup an Exchange 2010 server, and everything seems to work fine. But I
do have one question.

My workstation is running Outlook 2007 in cache mode.

If I reboot the Exchange 2010 server, outlook goes offline as normal. But
when the server comes back online, Outlook is prompting me for a NT
username/password dialog. If I enter domain\username and password it
connects, but if I do not, nothing will sync.

I am curious as to why I am getting this box.

Like I said, everything else seems 100% normal. This is the only time that
I get this prompt. I do not get prompted for username/password if I stop
and restart outlook. It will connect on its own.

thanks!
Craig

You get the box because you rebooted the server.

I just assumed that it should automatically reconnect using nt
authentication, rather than prompt everyone if I decide to reboot the pc
during the day. I was hoping that cache mode would keep this kind of
activity completely hidden from users.

The authenticated session was broken so another one had to be established.
I do not believe Outlook keeps the password cached per se.

Though our Exch 2007 and Outlook 2003/2007 combination seems happy
with a server restart.

Craig - is your server also a DC?

James.

no, it is a member server.

The real answer is to not reboot the server.

Thats fine, as long as its normal.

I did not want that to be a sign of something else that might be wrong. I
have this in a test environment ready to go live.

I was going CRAZY with this issue in my environment with Exchange 2010/Outlook 2007. Previous versions of Exchange2003/Outlook 2007 did restarts just fine (which was great for limiting time spent for Exchange troubleshooting/patching). Check this out:

I then setup a GPO to replicate the regedit to domain computers and all is working now.

SBS 2008, Exchange 2007 & Outlook 2007. . . Exchange Server Sorry for the cross-posting, but I am hoping someone out there will have an answer for me. Last weekend, I completed a migration from a 2003 SBS to a 2008 SBS. A few glitches here & there, but one of the major problems is users at a remote office cannot get their email now using Outlook 2007. It worked fine with Exchange 2003, but not Exchange 2007 - why? I have been on the Technet forums & last I was told this is not
itself, but I have not figured out how to do this. I have searched through Outlook 2007 Inside Out, the integrated help in Outlook 2007, and online help, but I have not found this issue addressed. WHy doesn't Outlook Live sync the calendar like it does in our own Exchange server Exchange Server Good afternoon, We are currently migrating our users from our onsite EX2007 server to hosted Exchange (Outlook Live / Live@Edu). One thing that is different with Exchange Live over Outlook 2007 is that calendars are not synced immediately like they are in the EX2007 server that synced with the server immediately. It usually happens when the next time comes around for Outlook to sync with the server, which I think happens every 10 minutes or so. But if you log on to the Outlook Live website and use Outlook Web App to change the calendar, it syncs the changes immediately. This is a fairly people working on the same calendar they will not get the same version as what Outlook has locally on the computer until it syncs back with the server. There are commercial

Each morning our XP users are prompted for their domain user credentials to log into Outlook / MS Communicator.
