Exchange Server - Problems sending mail on exchange 2003

Hi Guys,
Dunno if this the right place but here goes nothing.
I have just started @ this new company & whilst day-to-day e-mailing is
fine, when users request generic mail accounts to be created the admin just
creates the required address & gets the mails forwarded to whomever
requested.
But, what I have done in the past & am trying to do is to create a group
accessible mail account. I have gone through the usual steps of: Create a
user with uid/mail of groupname@mycompany.com, & can login via OWA using the
url https://webmail.mycompany.com/exchange/groupname/ so the acount is
created ok.
Now when I change the accounts Mailbox Rights in ADUC to allow the AD
Security Group _GroupNameMailboxAccess full access & again use OWA to access
using any user whom is part of that group it works fine.
But when I set the account in entourage I can receive but not send mail
(I get error -18597). However, when I go back into ADUC & open the group
account & go to Exchange General > Delivery Options > Send On Behalf & add
the induvidual users there it works without editing the entourage account
settings.
So what's going on? Could it be an issue with the OWA/WEBDAV
configuration? The reason I am going down this road is due to the fact that
they were not even running the WEBDAV service on their server, also when
using OWA every window that launches requested for uid rather than it
caching at owa login.
Hope some or all of that makes sense!
Ben.

Your SMTP virtual server requires authentication, correct? Are you putting
the correct ID and password in the SMTP authentication fields in the client?
The account must be in the format DOMAIN\UserID\Alias or DOMAIN\UserID if
Alias is the same as the UserID, or you can use forward slashes since some
clients don't like the backslashes.

Hi Ed,
Right the client I'm using is Entourage & so we are specifying Username,
Domain & Password as well as exchange server (using OWA address).
So... Entourage is set to use the same SSL certificate as OWA... This
works thru OWA but not the client...
Does that make sense?
Ed Crowley [MVP] replied...
Is that certificate installed on the IMAP virtual server?

Hi Ed,
I just re-installed the certificate to check. But still getting the same
