Exchange Server - Messages Stuck In Queue

Asked By microsoft

Hi

I am running Exchange 2003 SP2. Currently I have a couple of messages stuck
in the queue and they would not be delivered to the recipient. I have tried
to Force a connection, restarted the smtp service but to no avail.

Any ideas on why the messages are being stuck in the queue.

Only a few messages are stuck in the queue not all messages.

Thanks

Is there any indication of any error?

You could turn up SMTP protocol logging and that might give you a clue.

I just can't find it. Here are the symptoms. Soon after turning on the SMTP connecter my out bound queue fills with NDRs destine to what appears to be domains and packet captures. BTW with the packet capture it always seems as if the initial SMTP communication is made by my server. - - Rob Robert, Have you checked the running processes in be originating from another PC but the packet logs I have don't indicate any SMTP traffic from any other PC on the net. Planning to disconnect the entire network form I'll let you know. - - - - Rob Another piece of information. When I start up the SMTP connecter my Outbound messages awaiting connection queue also fills with items.
