Exchange Server - Program doesn't have authentication options for SMTP Server

Asked By dragline on 09-Mar-11 08:43 AM
Hi all,

First off I am new here so thanks for any help I might get.. Especially
because I do not know an awful lot about Exchange and whatnot

I have a program that wants to send emails through an SMTP server, but
does not have any authentication options.

I have configured it with our Exchange server, but it does not work..

So.... my plan is based on a program I used to use for the exact same
situation but for HTTP and HTTPS..

It was CCProxy. I'd set it up, put in the connection details for the
proxy and it would run a local proxy, then I'd connect the program
that did not have authentication abilities to 127.0.0.1 and it would
all work hunky-dorey.

I see CCProxy has a mail section but also does not have authentication
options.

Does anyone know of another program I could use/a similar solution?

Thanks,
Dragline

What is the name of the program you are trying to use? I'd be happy to
do a test setup of it here on my Exchange box.

The program is called "TinyTag Explorer" if I remember correctly. it is
a pretty specific piece of software that comes with RF Data Loggers so
I doubt you will manage to install a copy of, but thanks for the
gracious offer.

The machine that needs to send emails is just a plain old client PC,
so I'd prefer not to run any large pieces of software on it.. It
really is a pity that ccproxy does not acecpt authentication

Have you considered setting up a third party SMTP server internally that
either a) accepts authentication or b) allows the sending/relaying of
mail based on IP address or subnet mask?
