Hi,

Can Exchange server 2003 work or installed in a workgroup and use the
current name-server-environment which is in a unix environment?
If not, why exactly?

Thanks.

Exchange 2000 and upwards REQUIRE Active Directory.
That's why.

SP1 Server Exchange Server I have an unusual issue which I need some assistance. Our active directory forest consists of a root domain (which is not dedicated) and 3 child domains My the root domain so the authoritative domain will be created using the root domain's Active Directory name; ie: pc.company.com Child domains are: europe.pc.company.com; japan.pc.company in the ROOT DOMAIN (pc.company.com ). This will make my authoritative domain my internal Active Directory name: pc.company.com (2) Then install E2K7 SP1 in the child domain such as setup my connectors, etc. Any reason why I could not do this? Hi again, Our current set up is we're slowly merging folks off our existing unix mail system on to exchange. . We're already set up with active directory etc and have a few people already using exchange exclusively. . The way im migrating people across at the moment is having the unix server forward mail to %m@exchserver.domain.com when ever their %m@domain.com email system, but then enable each mailbox when we're ready to migrate them off the unix box Because the problem Ive got at the moment is, If i create a new Im trying to set it so that the new users are mail enabled, but not active (if that makes sence) I hope it sort of makes sence. . Our domain is set accept mail for them, but those not on exch yet it will forward to our unix server (and deliver the mail to their imap accounts there) so yeah if i create Gee i hope that makes sence. . Migrating Mail from UNIX Mail to Exchange Exchange Server I'm migrating a group of users from a UNIX system running Postfix to Exchange Server 2007. These users have several years worth of email on the UNIX system (in maildir format) that I need to move to the new Exchange server. The fairly often: what's the accepted practice for moving email from the user's old UNIX boxes to their new accounts on the Exchange server? Are there utilities / tools available in party tools I can use to do this? As a secondary question, many of the UNIX mail users have been using address extensions (such as joe+amazon@example.com) to sort and everything after it) and route the mail to the appropriate user? Filter Recipients who are not in the Directory not working? Exchange Server Folks: I'm having some issues with Backscatter. I'm looking to turning on "Filter Recipients who are not in the Directory" I've followed all the instructions: Global Settings-> Message Delivery-> Recipient Filtering-> "Filter Recipients who are not in the Directory" ON Server-> Protocols-> SMTP-> Default SMTP-> General-> Advanced-> (IP address)-> Apply Recipient Filter ON (Actually 2.1.5's. Any idea why an individual Recipient listed would work, but the Active Directory Check wouldn't? No errors in the Event Log. My tarpitting DOES seem to work and helpfile and I don't see that "Filter Recipients who are not in the Directory" is exclusive with anything. Mail delivery is working fine - no errors. Exchange 2003, SP2, On Windows Enterprise Server 2003, Active Directory, single forrest, all patched up. = = John = = Exchange Admin Discussions Microsoft Exchange (1) Active Directory (1
