If the message is leaving your server with a size of 52KB and arriving
at the destination with a size of 20MB then you need to start your
troubleshooting at "mail.smarthost.com" (the relay server). It should
show you the MAIL FROM exactly as you see it in your log, and you
should see the MAIL FROM sent to the target server with only a sligtly
larger size (additional header information is inserted into the mesage
by the relay). The receiving server should get the message at the same
size as the relay resent the message.

Somewhere there's either a defective MTA or a message loop that keeps
adding the message body to the message. If that's what's happening
then look for some sort of "auto-reply" process -- on the other
machines, not yours.

All domains? Does the problem repeat if you send the same message to

Yahoo!, Hotmail or gmail account?

Seems to be all domains for two users recently added (we've been
looking checking user settings with no luck) can be reproduced

TestUser1(new set-up with wizard): 58KB email
Sent internal goes ok
Sent to hotmail.com & rogers.com failed

This message is larger than the current system limit or
the recipient's mailbox is full. Create a shorter message body or
remove attachments and try sending it again.
maximum message size>

Existinguser(set-up a long time ago) same email
All goes OK and is deleivered

TestUser2(copied from Existinguser above) same email
Sent internal goes ok
Sent to hotmail.com & rogers.com failed

This message is larger than the current system limit or
the recipient's mailbox is full. Create a shorter message body or

Spoke initially to smarthost and while helpful pointed back to us
first and wanted me to be 100% sure it was not our issue. I believe
I'm 99% sure and will send them a summary of what I've found. I'm off
for a day - so won't have any other details until Wed.

Thanks - MM

When sent internally the message goes and shows up as 28KB when the
same message is sent externally it shows as 20+MB and is rejected -
we're now going to copy an existing older user and see what happens.

Anyone ever seen such a thing?

All Users And All Domains?

If so do you have a PTR Record?
Meaning your IP has a DNS record of mail.yourdomain.com

on the 20MB file??
Is this a Forwarded message? or a new message?
is all users getting this? just one?

Is this an Attachment? etc?

More details please.

Russ

so will I need to do any edits in the exchange folders for the current users, or in exchange itself so it eliminates reference to the old url Is there and "How To" to accomplish this? We only have 15 exchange, SBS users so the edits would not be bad doing it manually if needed. And no I service act as secondary MX. (you probably don't want this 1st method) Are all users requiring email addresses @domain.com defined on the SBS as users? This is a question of shared SMTP space, imagine John and Mary are defined users on the SBS but Peter and Gail are not (maybe they never come to the office but work for the same company), all require @domain.com addresses. If we have users that are only defined on the external service, in addition to our local users, the first thing that needs to be done is to tell Exchange to forward mail
much for your help. Due to the merge, we are going to have the new email domain name ex:newcompany.com If we need to use the newcompany.com for both company's primary email address domain (that means everyone in both comany will have primary email address fistinitial&lastname@newcompnay.com), what is the right way or effective way to do to accept emails for @newcompany.com and then ask the other company to use our email server as a smart host) and can we allow two companies to accept emails for space between the two organizations, but that means that you will have to accept all email delivered to your organization. That could get you on several DNSBLs. You could give everyone a local mailbox or to the other e-mail system. Or you could create disabled users in one AD forest to represent the people on the other forest, and then move for a while and later consolidate into the single one. Other company has about 600 users and we have about 800 users. THANK YOU VERY MUCH! BTW, do you see any problem during the co-exist period
Server We have a dealer that logs onto our system. I have set up two email addresses for the dealer, one for his wife and one for him - so they can have different email addresses on their business cards. They have now asked me if I can forward emails that come in to the husbands address to a personal outside email account (a yahoo account) and to forward email that comes in to the wifes email address to yet another different external account (a gmail account). They are using Outlook 2002 as long as I configure two contacts and set each up with the appropriate exteral email address desired for the forwarding. The problem is that the Outlook rules are "client side to have these rules become "server side" rules so that they will run for any email that comes into their exchange inbox. I know that you can have server side rules come in with specified text in the recipients name field (where I place their individual email address) and to then forward that email to a "name or distribution group" (where I

However, now we have the need to use the abc.com domain to send out email. I configured an IMAP account for the users who need to send out email using the abc.com domain so that they can choose which account to send new
